On Friday, 5th October 2018, Dr. P.K.Sen, an IEEE Fellow delivered a lecture on TRENDS IN ENERGY AND ELECTRICITY
USAGE IN USA & GLOBAL ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY. He has decades of combined teaching, research, and consulting
engineering experience. He currently works as the Professor of Electrical Engineering and the Site Director for the (originally NSF
funded) Industry University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) Power Systems Engineering Research Center (www.pser.org) at
Colorado School of Mines.
Dr. Sen has supervised and/or mentored over 300 graduate students. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of
Colorado. He has published over 200 technical papers (many prize winning) on a variety of subjects related to Power Systems T&D
Engineering, Protection/Relaying, Electric Machines and Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Power Quality, Arc Flash and Safety. In
addition, he is a very active member of many Professional Societies including IEEE PES/IAS, Rocky Mountain Electrical League
(RMEL) and has been instrumental in providing seminars, training and short courses, and conduct workshops for technical
personnel for decades.
Dr. Sen presented a holistic look at the energy sustainability for the planet earth with special emphasis on the production and usage
